it’s the time for roasted castanhas and jeropiga, inspired by the legend of saint martin sharing his cloak and bringing a burst of sunshine. it’s not a national holiday, but a local one in some towns like penafiel.
and don’t forget to stop by the street vendors roasting castanhas. you’ll find them in santa catarina, trindade, or near anémona (matosinhos) 🌰
